Explore Santa Barbara’s natural beauty and vibrant culture. The Pre-College & Summer Discovery program provides high school students (grades 9–12) with an immersive academic and cultural experience at the University of California, Santa Barbara. It offers a comprehensive introduction to university life by blending academic rigor with engaging social and cultural activities.

This program presents an excellent opportunity for students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build lasting connections in a supportive and stimulating environment. It also places strong emphasis on cultivating critical thinking, collaboration, and communication abilities—key skills for academic and personal success.

Pre-College & Summer Discovery features multiple two-week sessions, each centered on a specific area of study. For example, the Communications Academy and the EMT Certification Academy are both scheduled to run from July 6 to July 18, 2025. These sessions provide students with hands-on learning experiences guided by experienced educators and industry professionals.

Beyond academics, participants engage in a variety of extracurricular activities that promote personal growth and community involvement. Living on campus gives students a taste of independent life and helps them become familiar with the daily routines and expectations of college, which is invaluable as they prepare for future academic journeys.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, the program combines rigorous coursework with the dynamic campus environment of UCSB, allowing students to explore potential academic interests while enjoying the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Santa Barbara area.
